will be the theme of the Santa Cruz de
Tenerife Carnival of 2005. Jaime Azpilicueta will direct the
spectacle in which a Queen will be choose
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2005 will be hold
under the motto: The Great Comedy, inspired in the great musical
comedies of Broadway offering an important variety of costume
elements and atrezzo and, therefore, a wide range of possibilities
when making the disguises and carnival fantasies.
The Carnival of the Great Comedy will begin 14th of January
with a previous drawing of the order of participation for
the candidates to Queen and will finalize the 13th February
of next year.
The Poster The poster of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
2005, has been made by the artist Peter Shuyff, a Dutch painter
who has exposed his work in the most relevant art galleries
of the world. Schuyff gained a name in New York firstly, when
the artists of the graffitti were entering the great galleries
and has been many times compared not only with artists of
the new abstraction but also with conceptual painters.
The most distinguishing aspect of Shyuff is the enormously
dynamic structure that he creates combining his designer facet
with abstract, decorative and organic elements that in a certain
moment are thrown to conquer new spaces and territories.
On the other
hand, the councilman of Celebrations of the City of Santa Cruz,
Jose Carlos Acha has reached an agreement with Jaime Azpilicueta
by means of which the Madrilenian director will direct the Great
Gala of the Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
2005 Election that will be hold the 2nd February in the Plaza
de Espana.

The Scene
Devised by the theatrical designer Carlos Sáenz, the
scenery on which the Gala of the Queen of Carnival 2005 Election
will be celebrated is inspired in images of the musical-cinema
of the 20's, full of aesthetic excesses, with sceneries which
deliberatively mix the Baroque style and the most avant garde
vanguards.
Depth and three-dimensional perspective are the characteristics
of a three levels scene that recreates architectonic aesthetic
that evokes the cinematographic scenery and plato of the great
musical comedies of the beginnings of the XX th Century.
The materials with which the scene will be made are plexi-glas,
wooden sheet, steel and white and black marbles. The illumination
and sound elements will be integrated to the stage scene as
a component of the scenery.
The scene on which the games will take part and the Gala of
Carnival 2005, will end the 18th of January, date in which
the celebration of first stage of the Kids Murgas of the Carnival
of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2005 will take place, although the
complete stage scene will not be able to be seen until the
2nd of February of the next year, day on which the Great Gala
of Queen of Carnival 2005 Election will take place.
